Privacy Policy for “Pro USA by Sony“ Mobile Application
This Privacy Policy explains the following items:
i) How Sony Electronics Inc. ("Sony", "we", "our" or "us") may read, collect, use and/or store information about your use of the Sony Professional Solutions mobile application known as "Pro USA by Sony " (the "App").
ii) How you can contact us.
This Privacy Policy is in addition to any other privacy policy that may apply to your interactions with any Sony affiliate, subsidiary, product, software or service.
1. About the Application
This App will link you to information regarding Sony Professional products and solutions, as well as information regarding tradeshows, including booth maps, presentations and promotions.
2. What information may Sony obtain about you when you use this App?
This App collects the following information. Note that information collected through the App will be stored by Sony (and third parties described below) and may also be stored locally on your device.
(a) "Pro USA by Sony" data
Information you are required to provide during user registration including your name, email address, zip code, industry, job function and categories/areas of interest;
Other preference information you choose to provide such as models/products, tradeshows and presentations of interest;
Additional information you choose to provide, for example, on the Contact Me page, such as your telephone number or alternative contact information;
Information you choose to provide in response to any customer surveys in the App;
Unless you disable the feature, information about your proximity to beacons located at tradeshows which are used to communicate with you and to provide you with alerts based on your preferences.
b) Information Automatically Collected Through the App
The App automatically collects information about your device and your use of the App, which we use to better understand how our users engage with and use the App and to improve the App and our services. We use Google Analytics to help us analyze this information, as further discussed below in the section entitled "Google Analytics." The information we automatically collect includes:
Information about how you use the App, including the features you use and how you browse or interact with the App;
Information about the device on which the App is installed, for example: model name, manufacturer name and OS version.
3. How does Sony use your information?
Sony may collect and/or analyze the information collected through the App:
To provide you with features and functions of the App;
To provide you with Hot and New Product, Promotional and/or Presentation Alerts, solutions and tradeshows of interest;
To contact you through the App with messages about the App, your use of the App, our policies or other information;
To perform analytics and to improve and develop new products and services;
In connection with security monitoring activities designed to identify potential security threats and to protect the systems and data of Sony, its users and its affiliates;
To comply with legal or regulatory requirements and for internal business purposes; and
For other purposes disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your consent.
4. Who else has access to your information?
Information that is communicated to and stored by Sony may be made available to other Sony group companies and/or third parties, as follows:
a. Sony group companies
Information collected through the App may be shared with other Sony group companies, primarily for record-keeping, legal and internal business purposes, including improving our products and services.
b. Third party contractors/developers
Sony may share your information with third party contractors who process or analyze your information in connection with providing services to Sony and/or with developers who may analyze usage information in order to develop new features for the App.
c. Google Analytics
This App uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics may use cookies or a persistent identifier connected to your device to analyze our users' use of the App. To better understand how Google uses the information it receives, visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. Such information may be used by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy: http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html.
d. Business Transition
In the event that we go through a business transition (such as a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or sale of all or a portion of our assets, including, without limitation, during the course of any due diligence process), your information may be shared with the purchasing or acquiring entity as part of the transaction.
e. Compliance and enforcement
We may retain, use and/or disclose any of your information as required or permitted by law, regulation or order, including to the police or other appropriate authorities, to investigate complaints made by or against you, or to protect or defend ourselves, or others, against illegal, criminal or harmful activities.
5. Data Retention, Managing Your Information
a. Information stored locally on your device/App.
Data may remain on your device until you uninstall the App.
b. Information stored by Sony
We may retain the data we collect through the App for as long as you have the App installed and for a reasonable time thereafter unless legally allowed or required to maintain it for a different period of time.
6. Transfer of your information internationally
Please be aware that information collected by Sony through the App will be processed, stored and transferred by Sony for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed to you in the App in and to countries outside your country of residence, including Japan, the United States and the European Economic Area (EEA). Data protection and privacy laws in such countries may not offer the same level of protection as in the EEA and/or your country of residence and you may have fewer legal rights in relation to your information.
7. Privacy Rights
In some countries, including countries in the EEA, you have certain rights with respect to the personal information, if any, that Sony holds about you. These may include the right to request a copy of any personal information that we hold about you and/or you may request that we correct, amend, delete or block such personal information if it is inaccurate. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details set out at Section 9 below. In order to make such a request, you will need to provide information to Sony to confirm you are the user. If you delete the App, we may not be able to locate any data about you on our servers.
8. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. You are advised to consult the posted Privacy Policy regularly. We will also make the new Privacy Policy available through the App, but you may need to update the App on your device in order to access it. Note that your continued use of the App after notice of a new Privacy Policy indicates your consent to the new Privacy Policy.
